the foundation pieces that made 1974
When I felt it was time to rebrand in 2022 after 10+ yrs working with leather... the ideas started to flow out of me. I just had a nice holiday break. I was binge watching American Pickers and That 70's Show... and it all just came together like the best Marg + Taco night ever. Funky combo, right? But sometimes that's how I work... inspiration is everywhere.
The name. The logo. The designs... The stories... This very bag above, The Savannah River and thus... the River Collection was born.
At that time, I had acquired some amazing Tuscan-Italian, vegetable tanned leather with the most beautiful edging. It was smooth. Rich. Deeper in color and full of that rustic texture and of course it had that rolling river edging. There was an enhanced luxurious vibe that I've come to love... but of course I've had to add my own worn, lived-in aesthetic and distinctively designed pieces.
Each hide always tells its own story therefore allowing each handbag or wallet to also have it's unique imprint. No two ever have looked the same... nor will they ever going forward.
As I embark upon reigniting my creativity with limited, small batch releases, I wanted to curate the best of the best 1974 foundational pieces that have been near and dear to my heart. Some are best sellers and some are hidden gems only some have discovered. I'm looking at you Thames River Wallet.
These pieces are the foundation and heart of the 1974 Core Collection and will be around for a bit while I make this new leap.
For now, until I can get a tad more Winter rest and a few things in place to move forward 100%, I hope you'll explore some of these pieces again if you haven't already. Thanks for being on this journey with me.
