The Story Behind Every 1974 Leather Piece
Leather as Memory, Texture, and Time
Step into this world where leather is more than material…it captures memory, texture, and the passage of time. Each piece begins as raw, vegetable-tanned leather, quietly marked by history, waiting to be transformed into an object of enduring beauty and intimate utility.

Design with Intention, Craft with Care
At 1974, design is deliberate, and craft is intentional. Perfection has no place here; character, texture, and story do. Every scar, every natural variation, every fold tells a tale long before the piece reaches your hands. These are leather goods made to endure, to evolve, and to accompany a life well-lived.
Why 1974 Stands Apart ~
Woman-Owned
Each creation emerges from my hands, crafted by a single artisan devoted to slow, meticulous processes. Supporting 1974 means supporting a small, independent studio where every detail matters.
Responsibly Sourced, Carefully Selected
I work with leather as a living material, shaped by the life of the animal and the hands that processed it. Many with visible scars and markings that tell a story of a life lived. Whenever possible, I source from traceable, consortium-protected tanneries. I also sometimes work with odd-lot and reclaimed hides…materials that already exist in the supply chain. Using what is already here is its own form of respect.
One-of-a-Kind, Always
With over 12 years of experience, I design and handcraft each piece so that no two are alike. From bags to wallets, even key fobs and pouches are individually cut, shaped, and stitched by hand. Each item bears the unique mark of human touch and creative intuition.
A Lifetime Companion
1974 pieces soften, darken, and take on the textures of your life, becoming heirlooms in their own right. They are not just items…they are companions, keeping the stories of your days, journeys, and rituals.
