1974 Studio Ethos

1974 Studio Ethos

1974 is a working leather studio, where each handcrafted piece is made slowly and soulfully. With a love for the Southwest and an eye for imperfect beauty, I create these small-batch leather goods that are designed to be worn, weathered, and passed down...functional art with story.

1. Designed & Made by One Set of Hands
Every piece is conceptualized, patterned, cut, stitched, and finished by me. No mass-produced templates. No outsourcing. Just honest, one-of-a-kind leather goods made with intention.

2. Responsibly Sourced, Soulfully Worked
I work with leather as a living material, shaped by the life of the animal and the hands that processed it. Many with visible scars and markings that tell a story of a life lived. Whenever possible, I source from traceable, consortium-protected tanneries. I also sometimes work with odd-lot and reclaimed hides…materials that already exist in the supply chain. Using what is already here is its own form of respect.

3. Small Batch, Never Rushed
There are currently no machines in my studio. Just a slow rhythm... a ritual. Pieces are created in small numbers, allowing each design to evolve...slowly, thoughtfully, and without compromise.

4. Details That Carry Weight
From raw edges to beautiful grain and texture, every detail matters. It’s not just about function...it’s about feeling. These details are what make each piece quietly powerful and ready to be the perfect companion, truly making each piece one-of-a-kind.

5. Built with Integrity, Meant to Last
I design leather goods to be lived with, not just looked at. They’re built to patina, age, and endure...just like the stories they’ll go on to hold. Your stories. You get to finish the piece as a collaborator. Cheers to that journey of yours!
