1974 Leather Ring

The Dakota

A leather ring, made as an alternative to metal.

There’s a point where traditional rings stop making sense.

For some, it’s irritation. For others, it’s the kind of work they do with their hands.

And sometimes, it’s just a preference for something that feels more natural and less permanent in the traditional sense.

The Dakota leather ring exists in that space.

Who it's for ~

This piece tends to find people who already know what they’re looking for.

Those who:
+ can’t wear metal comfortably
+ work with their hands and need something non-conductive
+ don’t like the weight or rigidity of traditional rings
+ want something quieter, more personal

It’s also been worn as a wedding band, a daily ring, or simply something with that indie vibe without needing explanation.

Why leather?

Leather doesn’t sit on your hand the way metal does.

It warms, softens and gives slightly as you wear it. Over time, it begins to reflect how it’s lived in...subtle marks, a deepening tone, a kind of familiarity that doesn’t come from something made to stay untouched.

It becomes yours in a way metal doesn’t.

  • Crafting tools and materials on a grid surface

    Material + Process

Each ring is made from reclaimed vegetable-tanned leather… offcuts from larger works that I make. I strive to have zero-little waste whenever possible.

Each ring is cut and stitched by hand with a nylon thread…shaped and finished individually with love and care.

  • Two Variations

The Band // Minimal, smooth, and understated. A classic choice.

The Braid // Woven by hand for added texture and structure. A bit more visible, but grounded in the same material and intent.

  • A Note on Fit

Leather doesn’t behave like metal. Each ring is made as close to size as possible, but it may feel different than a traditional band and can shift slightly over time. If you’re looking for a precise fit (especially for a ring finger), reach out before ordering and we can get more specific. Otherwise, many find it naturally settles onto a finger that feels right.

Stories from Real Life Wear

+ After my dad’s ring finger was sliced at the tip, his finger was obviously swollen, and his wedding band would not longer fit. I made him a leather band which gave him a way to still wear something without that pressure.

+ Worn daily... it's strong and resilient like you... even after hand washing or the occasional time when it finds its way to the washing machine and dryer...the Dakota softens rather than breaks down.

+ Chosen by those who can’t wear metal, but also by those who simply don’t want to.

For some, the Dakota is enough on its own.

For others, it’s an introduction into a different way of wearing leather...something that leads into other pieces over time.

Either way, it holds its place and can't wait to be a part of your life's journey.
