The Nature of Handmade Items
All 1974 products are handmade, and due to the nature of my production method, each product may vary slightly. All 1974 products have normal “markings” within the leather, whether there are holes, ink marks, ragged edges, etc. This is where the beauty is and what is usually highlighted in each piece. For damages during shipment, please see below under "Shipping Policies".
Returns + Exchanges
All 1974 pieces are made to order and are therefore final sale. On rare occasions, returns or exchanges may be considered within 5 days of delivery for items in original, unused condition — excluding custom orders, sale items, and gift cards. Refunds are issued as store credit once the item is received. If your piece arrives damaged or defective (beyond the natural markings and textures already present in the leather), please reach out and Beth will make it right. Repair services are available for 1974 products.

Your privacy matters to me. This policy explains what information I collect, how I use it, and how I protect it.
Who I am 1974 Leather is a woman-owned, one-person artisan studio operated by Beth Dryden. All inquiries and data are handled personally by me.
What information I collect When you place an order or contact me, I may collect:
- Your name, email address, and shipping address
- Payment information (processed securely by Shopify — I never see or store your card details)
- Your order history and purchase preferences
- Messages sent via the contact form
- Email address if you subscribe to the newsletter
When you visit 1974leather.com, Shopify automatically collects:
- IP address and general location
- Browser type and device information
- Pages visited and time spent on site (via cookies and analytics)
How I use your information
- To fulfill and ship your order
- To communicate with you about your order or inquiry
- To send marketing emails if you've opted in (you can unsubscribe anytime)
- To improve the store and customer experience
Who I share your information with I do not sell your personal information. It may be shared with:
- Shopify — my e-commerce platform, which stores and processes all order and customer data. See Shopify's Privacy Policy
- UPS — your name and shipping address are shared to fulfill your order
- Email marketing platform — your email address if you've subscribed to the newsletter
- Meta (Instagram/Facebook) — if you interact with 1974 via social ads or the shop channel

Processing + Shipping Policy
All orders are processed within 10-20 business days. In most cases, items are made to order unless stated as a "ready to ship" product within the description. Each product is handmade with love and care, and your patience is much appreciated so that you get a top-quality bag or wallet.
Should your order be received during a high volume time, the owner and artist, Beth Dryden, will reach out directly via email to give the best time estimates of when your product will be made and shipped.
Shipping rates and delivery estimates: Shipping is via primarily via UPS. Rates from standard ground to super fast (whichever you choose) are calculated at checkout based on package weight and destination. Reminder that orders $200+ are shipped complimentary.
Shipment confirmation and order tracking: You will receive a shipping notification via email with tracking information once I have finished making it and dropped it in the mail.
Customs, duties, and taxes: 1974 is not responsible for any customs and taxes applied to your order. All fees imposed during or after shipping are the responsibility of the customer (tariffs, taxes, etc.).
Damages: 1974 is not liable for any products damaged or lost during shipping. If you received your order damaged, please contact the shipment carrier or our support team directly to file a claim. Please save all packaging material and damaged goods before filing a claim.
International Shipping Policy: Currently, 1974 is not selling or shipping outside of the United States. Please stay informed of any changes to this policy by signing up for the newsletter and by following 1974 on social media.
