About the Leather

1974 Leather goods are solely made from high quality, beautiful vegetable tanned leather. Vegetable tanning is where barks from various trees are being used in the tanning process which can take up to 2 months. It’s a leather that will age gracefully as the oils from your hands and overall use will give a beautiful patina, darkening the leather a bit in certain areas. This only contributes to it being solely a one-of-a-kind to you and the journey you’re on. A beautiful thing. Each leather hide will vary in color, markings, textures and such. Each hide has one-of-a-kind character before it's even made into the heirloom it will become. Any hardware on your new 1974 will have an antique brass finish and when the design allows, will have a YKK zipper.

Make it Yours

If you're looking to customize any 1974 leather product with a specific leather color or stitch color combination, extra pockets, a particular strap length, please reach out here. I will do my best to accommodate most requests if they do not compromise the overall original design of the piece. Additional fees may apply depending on the customization. I currently do not offer personalization as far as initials go.

Leather Love

I love to use Smith’s All Natural Leather Balm on my leather goods. It's a non toxic leather conditioner designed to restore worn leather and protect new leather goods. Each piece that leaves my hands will have been swathed in it. If for some reason, a piece gets dirty (which in my eyes, that makes it all the more lovely) then use a damp cloth to see if that removes the stain. If a piece gets a water/rain stain, most likely it will dry and be fine. If not, then gently work the leather a bit. That helps to bring it back to a normal state. Leather is tough so don't be afraid to use your 1974 daily... Beat it up, hold it close and most of all, enjoy!
